Chudleigh: A Walker’s Paradise!

At Autograph Estate Agents we believe that one of the main attractions of Chudleigh is that the entire area is simply wonderful for walkers! For this reason, we’ve decided to compile a list of Autograph Estate Agent’s favourite three walks in and around Chudleigh – starting from a short amble and working up to the more serious stuff…

1. Walk along the river Teign (3.6 miles).

This walk should take about an hour and a half. The circular route takes you right around Chudleigh. There’s a steady climb to begin, following which you will reach the broad, shallow and fast flowing river Teign. You can park for free next to St Mary & St Martin’s church on Fore Street or in front of bowling club, off Millstream Meadow.

2. Chudleigh to Haldon (7.5 miles)

If you’re looking for something a little longer, this walk should take you about 3 hours to complete the full circle. It’s one of the most popular walks in Chudleigh due to the stunning scenery. There are some steady climbs but the changing landscape from the valley to the forested hills of Haldon make for a spectacular and enjoyable walk. You can park at the Chudleigh Cricket Club.

3. Templar Way  (18 Miles)

If you’re a more serious walker looking for a challenge that rewards you with incredible views of the countryside around the Chudleigh area then head for the Templer Way. It traces the route through which granite was exported from Dartmoor via the unique Haytor Granite Tramway and the Stover Canal. It offers a wide range of scenery including river valleys, woodland, open moorland, old quays and locks as well as fascinating examples of the old tramway and canal.
