Family-Friendly Christmas Events in Devon

For many people, us included, Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year; with so many Christmas events in Devon, there’s no excuse to not get into the festive spirit! So, wrap up warm and get everyone together to enjoy some family-friendly events!

Shopping and Markets – why not kill two birds with one stone? Get the Christmas shopping sorted whilst having some family fun! With Exeter’s Princesshay Shopping Centre opening for late night shopping and the Christmas market running until 17th December, there’s loads of opportunity to visit the broad and diverse range of stalls. With handmade crafts, toys, fine wines and gourmet food it will provide hours of fun. There’s also a wide range of street food to treat yourself to, and – of course – some mulled wine for Mum and Dad!

Candle-Lit Dinner in Dartmouth – This is one of our favourite Christmas events in Devon, running at the end of November, this event sees the Christmas lights being switched on in Dartmouth but with a magical twist… a procession of lanterns will parade through the street before Santa arrives on a boat. Undoubtedly, this is a guaranteed family-photo opportunity!

Breakfast with Santa in Wyevale Garden Centres – this is a Christmas event not to be missed: enjoy the rare opportunity to dine with Santa Claus! At four garden centres in the county, children will be able to meet Santa and have a fun morning full of festive activities…rumour has it, he might be bringing some presents, too!

Victorian Christmas – Get the chance to step back in time to the magic of a Victorian Christmas! It’s such a popular Christmas Event in Devon that there are numerous locations hosting one. Try Bygones in Torquay for a historical and educational experience throughout December or alternatively, visit The World of Country Life to see the Victorian street museum decorated in festive wonder – you might even get the opportunity to get creative with Santa’s elves!

Pennywell Farm – this unique little event is sure to build family memories that will last a lifetime! See the animals, sip on some festive drinks and enjoy a little visit from Santa Claus!
