Devon town crowned best place to live in the British countryside.

Devon has once again bagged the top spot in The Sunday Times’ 2015 ‘Top Places to Live’ list. The picturesque town of Chagford, located on the edge of Dartmoor National Park has been named the number one place to live in the British countryside. The former tin mining town is known as the ‘jewel of Dartmoor’ for its beauty and is enormously popular with both residents and visitors alike. With its beautiful 15th century homes, 750 year old church and stunning location, nestled in breathtakingly beautiful countryside, it’s not hard to see why this charming town won the top spot. What’s more, Chagford boasts a 2 Michelin star restaurant and has easy access to both Exeter and Newton Abbot.

However it’s not just Chagford that we should be bragging about… Devon as a county has a lot to offer a prospective buyer. The standard of living that can be achieved for relatively little money in Devon is outstanding. Devon is English countryside at its best – nature at its finest. With rolling hills, idyllic villages and seaside towns, and a dramatically beautiful coastline, there is endless exploring to be done and outdoor adventures to be had. While Devon’s lively and functioning cities, such as Exeter, offer all the benefits of a city, you can be content in the knowledge that you’re never too far away from those long, peaceful stretches of countryside bliss.

Whatever your age or family situation, Devon is an excellent place to live, and these ‘best place to live’ awards are the proof.
